Hypnotherapy uses hypnosis to try to treat conditions or change habits.

What is Hypnotherapy?

Hypnotherapy is an intense internal concentration, where our conscious mind is drifting away and we access the subconscious mind. Unhelpful behaviours are modified and negative thoughts are reframed.

What happens in a hypnotherapy session

There are different types of hypnotherapy, and different ways of hypnotising someone.

First, you’ll usually have a talk with your therapist to discuss what you hope to achieve and agree what methods your therapist will use.

After this, the hypnotherapist may:

  • lead you into a deeply relaxed state – most people feel refreshed and relaxed
  • use your agreed methods to help you towards your goals – for example, suggesting that you do not want to carry out a certain habit
  • gradually bring you out of the trance-like state. Most people feel refreshed and relaxed

You’re fully in control when under hypnosis and do not have to take on the therapist’s suggestions if you do not want to. If necessary, you can bring yourself out of the hypnotic state. Hypnosis does not work if you do not want to be hypnotised.

“Before starting, I had no idea what can hypnotherapy help with.”

Hypnosis for Weight Loss

Year after year, you cannot fail to hear of some new diet craze sweeping the nation. They’re constantly in lifestyle magazines, endorsed by the once slightly overweight celebrity who has religiously followed the regime to become super-slinky and hype-toned. We can’t help but read them and hope that the dream of shedding those pounds in unrealistic time-scales be possible. It is with positive intention and new found motivation that we start the diet, only to fall off the wagon two weeks later, feeling deflated and positively worse about our failure to control our weight. We’ve all been there, more than once. Fad diets do not work because they are exactly what they say they are… a fad! a new craze or phase to endure. They are not meant to be lasting and neither are their effects. Fad diets are designed to keep you in a vicious cycle of yo-yo weight loss & weight gain.

Hypnosis For Anxiety and Depression

Anxiety is a normal, healthy response to situations that appear threatening. It tells us when to be cautious and vigilant, preparing us for action if necessary.

However, sometimes this natural emotion can become severe and overwhelming.  When this happens it can cause us to become hyper-vigilant, panicked and overly-concerned about living our lives. Anxiety sufferers may develop phobias, to objects or situations, their thinking and behaviours can become obsessive, leading to social withdrawal and possibly sexual dysfunction.

Long-term, it can severely affect both your psychological and physical well-being. Sufferers may find themselves locked in a loop of anxiety and depression, with what seems like a little respite. Whatever the reason you may have first become highly anxious, it is the underlying thinking, behaviours, that help to maintain and worsen its presence.

"Dear Monica, I attended a business meeting a few weeks ago where I saw you present a 10 minute talk on hypnotherapy. I have attended a number of hypnotists over the years who have helped me greatly, when I heard you speak about hypnotherapy I knew that you could help me to remove the final blockage that was causing me some problems in my life. You spoke more sense in 10 minutes than all of the other therapists put together had done in many hours, over the years. You explained in very simple terms what hypnotherapy was and how it can help anyone with any type of fear, phobia or emotional blockage. I attended three separate sessions with you. In my first session you spoke to me in a very understanding way which made it very easy for me to relate my issue to you. You then explained to me very clearly how you could help me to move forward in my life. Session two involved a short period of hypnotherapy where you gave me the tools to remove my blockage. Session three was really quite unnecessary as I knew that you had helped me completely after session two, but I came along for session three just to help me to reinforce the message in my mind and to ensure that my problem is solved. I am now prepared to move forward onto much greater things in my life thanks to the help and guidance you gave me, in fact on the very afternoon that I saw you, I met a new business client who gave me some work to do that day; she has also asked me to quote for a number of different premises that she manages, this client is looking like she will be my biggest contract customer. Now my belief is that it was with your help and my new found belief in myself that this client came to me. You have an unbelievably fantastic skill, you are without doubt the best therapist that I have ever come across, you have an excellent manner with your clients and your interpersonal skills are without doubt the best I have encountered, I would urge anyone who is contemplating therapy to contact you, I wish you the very best of luck in the future, you are my saviour. Many Thanks"

"Before attending Monica’s hypnosis therapy I had problems with my self- confidence. This had been reflected at the work environment. For example I felt nervous whilst answering work related telephone calls. I had also problems in in prioritizing my work load. From attending Monica’s hypnosis therapy my self-confidence has improved dramatically. I now answer telephone calls with more confidence and passion. My work colleagues have noticed a substantial improvement. I can also prioritize my workload more effectively. I found that Monica had tailored the hypnosis therapy to my exact needs. She has been a tremendous help to me and I would not hesitate in recommending her services Thank-you Monica"
