Psychotherapy

Psychotherapists help individuals who are experiencing emotional and psychological difficulties to understand their problems and make appropriate changes to their lives.

What is Psychotherapy?

Psychotherapy is talking therapy. It explores conscious awareness of our thoughts and emotions to determine how and why we do things. The conscious mind may interfere if thoughts are not connected with emotions For weight loss for example, psychotherapy will try and find out why you eat when you eat and find the triggers for this specific behaviour Psychotherapy works hand in hand with Hypnotherapy.

How does Psychotherapy relate to Hypnotherapy?

Psychotherapy, or talking therapy, is a first step to explore thoughts, emotions and behaviours that a person needs to deal with.

Hypnotherapy is the next step that accesses the sub conscious mind when it is in a relaxed state of intense internal concentration. The direct access to emotions and thoughts allows the necessary changes to behaviour to occur. The sub conscious mind is like a 24/7 recorder that has no relation to time or logic.

"Before attending Monica’s hypnosis therapy I had problems with anxiety and confidence. After moving to Watford from the southwest due to work, and living here for nearly a year and not really going out and socializing. I decided to search online for a solution, and read about hypnosis and the benefits that it had on people in the same situation. After finding out about Monica on the internet, I decided to give it a go as it could’nt make things worse. From the beginning I told Monica about my anxiety and lack of self confidence, I could tell she seemed very interested and understanding of what I had to say and catered the sessions to my exact needs. By the end of the sessions with Monica, I can honestly say I feel like a new person, no longer am I shy around others, or nervous about what to say and how to act, I just feel relaxed and comfortable in my surroundings, which is something I have not felt since I was a little kid. I feel more confident at my job, and have recently signed up to the gym and started attending night classes on my own which is something I would have never considered before. I am so thankful for Monica and feel like there is a new chapter in my life."

"Before I met Monica I felt like I was on a downward spiral. Like I was drowning. I was so depressed. Crying everyday, unmotivated, didn’t want to get out of bed. I just felt like I had no direction in life, that I was worthless. After years of verbal abuse I went from a really bubbly, bright, happy and positive woman to someone who felt as though her soul was dying and there was no way out. I searched the internet to find someone who could help me. I found Monica, a warm and caring human being and she helped me to get back to the person I was before all of the abuse. She combined various therapies that suited me best and I looked forward to our meetings every week. I now have a new lease on life. A new outlook on relationships. I am motivated, strong, positive and most of all I am happy with me. Monica helped me get back to me and I will be forever grateful. Thank you Monica"

"My motivation for seeing Monica was a lack of direction and insufficient dedication to any one thing in my life. Monica’s approach to my therapy was very open-minded; she listened intently to me and catered her treatment to my needs and moods on the day. I found this very refreshing; rather than having me fit into her planned schedule for the session, she fitted into mine. I gained a lot of knowledge about myself and the tools to achieve what I wanted in very few sessions, something that a year of counselling had not managed to even identify let alone ‘fix’. Monica, herself, is very warm and enthusiastic about what she practices, her knowledge in many areas of therapy shines through and you find yourself participating in exercises that you may initially think won’t work for you but end up gaining so much from. I cannot recommend Monica highly enough; I gained what I needed from our sessions and so much more. Many Thanks"
